Make the Intelligence Actually Intelligent
AI/ML Engineer — Full-time · Remote-first
This role opens following our first funding round. We're not hiring yet — but the right ML engineer isn't always available when you need them. Register your interest now.
About the Role
A lot of ML roles sound meaningful and aren't. You optimise a ranking algorithm that makes people click more, or you maintain a recommendation model that mostly works, or you spend two years in a research team that never ships. The work is technically interesting. The impact is hard to see.
This is different.
myCandr is an AI company whose entire value proposition rests on the quality of its intelligence layer. We help organisations understand what their people are actually saying — not sentiment scores, not word clouds, but genuine insight that leaders can trust and act on. The AI is not a feature. It is the product.
This is a founding ML hire. You'll shape how we build, evaluate, and improve the models that sit at the heart of everything we do. If you've been looking for a role where your ML work genuinely matters — where the accuracy of your models changes what organisations do and how employees are heard — this is it.
What You'll Work On
- The NLP and text analysis pipeline that turns thousands of employee comments into structured, actionable intelligence
- LLM integration, evaluation, and optimisation — ensuring the models at our core perform consistently and improve over time
- Fine-tuning and prompt engineering strategies that make our AI outputs trustworthy enough for senior leaders to act on
- Model evaluation frameworks — because in our world, a hallucination isn't a curiosity, it's a trust problem
- Data pipelines that feed clean, well-structured inputs into our models at scale
- Research into the next generation of capabilities — what should our AI be able to do in 12 months that it can't do today
What We're Looking For
- Strong background in NLP and text analysis — you understand how language models actually work, not just how to call them
- Production ML experience — you've shipped models that real users depend on
- Deep familiarity with LLMs, fine-tuning approaches, and prompt engineering at scale
- Experience building model evaluation frameworks and robust testing for AI outputs
- Strong Python and ML infrastructure skills
- A product instinct — you think about what the model needs to do for the user, not just what it can do in a notebook
- You care about trust and accuracy in AI, not just capability
The models you build here will determine what leaders know about their organisations — and what they do about it.
That's a meaningful problem. We're looking for someone who feels that weight and is energised by it.
