Strategic Security Advisor

About the Role
myCandr is a London-based AI SaaS startup that extracts valuable business insights from employee feedback. We're looking for an experienced security professional to join us in an advisory capacity — helping us build a secure, compliant platform from the ground up as we scale.
This is a lightweight commitment of 1–2 hours per month, compensated with 0.0015% equity vesting over 4 years. You'll have real influence over how we architect security across our entire platform.
Responsibilities
- Advise on navigating compliance certifications (GDPR, ISO 27001, UK Cyber Essentials, EUCS, UK DPA 2018)
- Provide guidance on secure SaaS infrastructure architecture to meet government-grade standards
- Advise on secure data handling and transfer protocols
- Help develop and shape a comprehensive security roadmap
- Advise on security controls for AI model integrations
- Provide input on secure API architecture
- Advise on secure development lifecycle processes with embedded security practices
- Guide the design of data sovereign solutions for US, UK, and EU regulatory environments
- Advise on strategies for delivering on-premise deployment options
What We're Looking For
- Proven SaaS security architecture experience for demanding environments
- SSO implementation expertise
- AI/ML security knowledge
- Major cloud platform security proficiency (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Familiarity with European and North American government security frameworks
- DevSecOps and secure development practice expertise
- Experience guiding organisations through certification pathways
